The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine

I watched television that night. I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up late and watched commercials and infomercials advertising blenders and detergents and knives.

I remember watching the eleven o'clock news. There were two anchors, a man and a woman, I forgot their names. But I remember there were two of them. Well, I fell asleep in the middle of the news and when I woke up, I only saw one anchor. Just one. It must have been happening all over the world, but I was the only one to notice. I was the only one to remember.

But I didn't notice then. I was too tired. I turned off the television and curled up under my blankets and wished for a dreamless sleep.

I got it. I dreamed of nothing.
